Japan and the Odourphone
No it's not a late April Fool. The Japanese technological people at NTT DoCoMo have started pilot tests on a Mobile Fragrance! Coomunication (MFC) services, tying multimedia content with fragrances emitted via a handset.
Developed in 2005, the system has been enhanced for the i-Mode system. Users of selected NTT DoCoMo handsets will be able to receive signals via an infrared device on their lapel, which squirts fragrances into their 'facial zone'.
The company says 'fragrance playlists' can also be edited and shared with other subscribers.
BLIMEY THIS MOBILE INDUSTRY JUST KEEPS GETTING CRAZIER!!
